Time flies!! And 2 more weeks and we will be done! Fast and furious!
This week is a pretty busy week for me because I am leaving Tallahassee for New York next Friday and I have pack up my stuff, clean up the house and prepare for the move-out inspection on Sunday, which is later in the afternoon! I am trying so hard to manage all these stuff, churning out blog post, read blogs, explore the tools, prepare the Voice Thread (took me 6 hours!!) and at the same time, I was also working on my internship task! So, it was a pretty tiring week for me!
Nevertheless, some of the tools that we have explored this week can be used as part of our produsage assignment. I read a little bit more about produsage on Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Produsage), instead of presenting the information to the learners, we are getting them to create the information through various means. The students are the users of the information and at the same time, are also the producers of the information! Like what we are doing now on the Wikispace! I think in this context, the students are given the full autonomy to create content that they think or feel are important to them, while they are creating the content as a group or class, every students will also chime in to refine the content through collaboration and discussions to make the content as relevant to everyone as possible because different students will have different expectations of their own learning! This course is so fun!
Creating a Voice Thread for me was pretty crazy! It was a good experience but it took me too long! I had a slide that I wrote a pretty long script to elaborate the stuff, I was on the slide for 30 minutes re-recording my voice over and over again because I kept stumbling over my words haha! 6 hours is no joke hahaha! Moving on to week 5 tomorrow! Hang in there guys!
Hello Ernest!
ReplyDeleteI also spent a lot of time on the Voicethread- especially making sure that the audio did not have stumbling or pauses. After finishing it, I felt that it is a powerful and useful tool. It was helpful to see Dr. Dennen’s finished Voicethreads, and gain an understanding about what the finished product should resemble.
I am attending a conference in California all week and have to pack as well! My flight leaves at 5am and I fear that the jet lag will be brutal. Class should be interesting for me this week, as I attempt to fly across the nation twice, be in an unfamiliar city, and keep up with coursework.
It is great being a produser! Coursework is not as monotonous when you constantly use new tools and are able to focus on whatever interests you that week. I am definitely enjoying this class as well!
Hey Jeff! Looks like you have got a lot of things to do this week! But I am pretty sure you will be fine! For Voice Thread, it feels like we are putting an entire classroom lecture online, where students can review the Voice Thread and discuss about the concepts with one another be it through text or voice recording! It's a really good tool for online classes like this!
DeleteI think what makes this course really fun is the fact that we are trying out different types of tools with different or additional features every week, and I guess it keeps us fresh each week! Time flies too!
You can record and rerecord and rerecord on VoiceThread if you let yourself. In the end, the odd word stumble isn't really a problem. The key is to have a message that is on point. People can survive stumbles, they just tune out during rambles (where there is no point).
ReplyDeleteYou are very right! The important part is to get the message across clearly and on point! But I guess it would take a few rounds of VT recordings before you get comfortable with it! It is a good experience though! haha
DeleteI completely understand your stress level! It seems like when it rains it pours, doesn't it? The weeks when you feel like you have plenty of time to get it all accomplished, there's not nearly the same workload. But, those weeks when there are all kinds of extraneous things happening...it just feels so overwhelming! But, I'm glad for you that you were able to get it all done! And, here we are coasting downhill with the finish line in sight! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Mary! Yes it is definitely overwhelming! Finally, we are close to the finishing line!! Yay!
